Cultivating a Love of Arts

FACT is an offspring of the Franklin Opera House, Franklin Footlight Theatre and the FHS Players. The program covers basics in theater training and performance art, and culminates in a group production at the end of each camp. FACT provides a positive experience for hundreds of children in grades one through eight. It’s also an incredible educational experience for the teenage interns who are hired to work for the program. Working under the guidance of the Artistic Director they learn how to teach children to perform. They take what they learn, plus their own theater experience and work with groups of children. The result is amazing!

See below for information about our 2025 summer programs.

Registration for the 2025 Theatre Workshop has CLOSED.

The Theatre Workshop program is done in collaboration with the Rec program at Bessie Rowell. Kids signed up for the summer Rec program can sign up for the Theatre Workshop through the Rec.

The 2025 Workshop meets on Mondays and Wednesdays, 2:00 to 3:30 pm, July 7 to 23.

Workshop participants focus on developing and honing theatrical skills. Guided by professional teachers and experienced student interns, children will collaborate as an ensemble of performers on themes and material that excites them and expands their skillset. On the last day of workshop, participants will offer a short presentation.

The Performance Camp is the main program of FACT, not affiliated with the Parks & Rec Department. Registration for the Performance Camp is only through the Opera House website or using the paper form button below.

FACT Performance Camp addresses different areas of theatrical performance- dance, music, and character creation. Students work with teen interns to learn skills to help improve focus, concentration, observation and other skills that will help them become stronger performers.

PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING ADJUSTMENT TO OUR SCHEDULE: Because of a schedule conflict, the first week of camp, July 21-25, will meet at Franklin HIGH SCHOOL, Monday through Friday from 3:30 to 5:30 pm. The second week of camp, July 28-August 1, will meet at Franklin MIDDLE SCHOOL, at the same time. August 1 may begin earlier to accommodate a dress rehearsal.

The Camp culminates with two performances of MTI’s “Dear Edwina JR" on August 1 and 2 at 7:00 pm.

 Financial Assistance Application

An essential component of the FACT program is the involvement of teen mentors, who assist and support the director in camp activities. Many of these teen mentors have been campers in the past, and are very active in the Franklin High School drama program as well as the Franklin Footlight Community Theatre. Their close interaction with the younger children is a highlight of the campers' experience.

We are no longer accepting Intern Applications for 2025. Look for us next year!
