We're currently in preliminary stages of the renovation process, which is being conducted by the City of Franklin, as owners of the building. Along with department heads from City administration, we met with Arcove Architects in September to determine how to best meet the needs of the Opera House and the city's administrative functions in a shared space. Plans and drawings are now being created to offer a few options to present to the City Council for approval. Once funding is in place, the real work can begin.
The Opera House organization has secured several grants to pay for needs that are specific to the Opera House perfomance space, such as a smoke ventilation system above the stage, and improvements to our dressing rooms. We also will be conducting an economic feasibility study and creating a business plan for the future operation of the Opera House after renovations are completed.
We are optimistic about the future of the Opera House and its role in the economic vitality of downtown Franklin, and we hope you'll continue to support us.
