We need to change things up a bit this year because of expected renovations to the Opera House. So what was previously called "Camp One" at Bessie Rowell Community Center will now be a Theatre Workshop camp; they will engage in theatre games and performance techniques, and will offer a short presentation of their work at Bessie Rowell on the last day of the camp, July 26. Students enrolled in the Parks and Recreation summer program should register for the Theatre Workshop through that program.
What was previously called "Camp Two" will now be called Performance Camp at the Opera House, and participants will rehearse and perform Disney's Finding Nemo JR on August 4-5.
Comment from a parent:
"I just have to pass along that my child has been telling us her favorite part of summer so far has been theater camp. She told us when she grows up, she wants her job to be "being on stage"!

Workshop participants focus on developing and honing theatrical skills. Guided by professional teachers and experienced student interns, children will collaborate as an ensemble of performers on themes and material that excites them and expands their skillset. As part of the last day of workshop, participants will offer a short presentation of skills learned. This presentation will also be made at the FACT Performance Camp’s presentation of Finding Nemo JR August 4 & 5.

FACT Performance Camp addresses different areas of theatrical performance- dance, music and
character creation. Students work with teen interns to learn skills to help improve focus, concentration, observation and other skills that will help them become stronger performers.
The Camp culminates with 2 performances of Disney and Pixar’s Finding Nemo JR.

FACT is an offspring of the Franklin Opera House, Franklin Footlight Theatre and the FHS Players. The program covers basics in theater training and performance art, and culminates in a group production at the end of each camp. FACT provides a positive experience for hundreds of children in grades one through eight. It’s also an incredible educational experience for the teenage interns who are hired to work for the program. Working under the guidance of the Artistic Director they learn how to teach children to perform. They take what they learn, plus their own theater experience and work with groups of children. The result is amazing!
