Welcome to the Franklin Opera House! We are in our fourth quarter of this season and want to keep you updated on all the happenings at our beloved Opera House. We have a number of wonderful shows this next three months so here we go!……. On Wednesday, April 2nd at 9:30 am and 1:00 pm we will be hosting The Pushcart Players in “The Last, the Very Last…..Butterfly”. This performance is geared towards ages 10 to adult and is based on the poems, drawings and experiences of children of the Holocaust. The following Saturday, April 5th at 7:30 pm. will be two performances. “The Fallen Free” with Kelley Morris and Lisa Doscher and The Band. They are performing a benefit concert for the Opera House. On Friday, April 11th at 7:30 p.m. April Verch will be here with her unique fiddling abilities. She is not just a world-class fiddler, she is also a world-class Canadian step dancer! She crosses genres easily from bluegrass to Brazilian to Celtic bringing the audience with her all the way! This show is underwritten in part by Masse Electrical Contractors. The Taubl Family will be here on April 12th at 7:30 p.m. This family of nine has been trained at the Juilliard School in New York City. They will be performing a variety of stringed instruments along with their unique blend of vocal harmonies. On Saturday, April 19th the Opera House will be hosting our third “Classic Movie Nights at the Franklin Opera House” featuring “YANKEE DOODLE DANDY” starring James Cagney – 1942 - at 7:00 p.m. Donations graciously accepted. Then in May come and be a part of Franklin Footlight Theatre’s “PETER PAN”. This family performance will be a joy to be a part of as you watch Peter fly across the stage! You won’t want to miss this fantastic performance. Show times will be Thursday thru Sunday; May 22-25 at 7:00 pm and 2:00 on Sunday and May 29 – 31 and June 1st……same times. This show has been underwritten in part by Franklin Savings Bank. On June 21st we will have “New Englands’ Own Gospel Singer” Mr. Ken Fernald on our stage at 7:30 p.m. His music covers the great hymns of faith and the newer gospel favorites that minister to all age groups…. On Friday, June 13th at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, June 15th at 2:00 p.m. “Suor Angelica and I Pagliacci” will be performed on our stage by Lakes Region Opera Company. This will be a dinner opera with floor seating and a full menu for dinner and balcony seating upstairs for those that do not want to eat dinner. Tickets for this special event can only be purchased through the box office. And lastly on June 26th – 29th, Tabula Rasa will be performing “The Wizard of Oz” each night at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday matinee at 2:00 p.m. Come in costumes or not, but just come and enjoy this classic musical! Don’t forget about our new radio show, “Keeping Up With The Franklin Opera House”. If you are in an area with a weak signal, have no fear. As the show establishes itself, it should develop a recognizable musical introduction which will be played at the beginning of each monthly installment, conveying the grandeur of a Victorian-era opera house. With that in mind, the Franklin Opera House Board is seeking submissions of original music by local composers in a competition to be selected as our signature piece. The winning composition will be recognized by its author’s name at the outset of each show to bring attention to the winning composer’s talents. Anyone wishing for their theme to be considered should mail it to – The Franklin Opera House “Keeping Up With the Franklin Opera House” PO Box 172 Franklin, NH 03235 Along with the recognition of their accomplishment, the winner will be given a season pass to the Opera House.
