Renovation Updates

 Current Status

The preliminary draft assessment of current conditions and potential uses has been made public. Along with department heads from City administration, we met with Arcove Architects in December to evaluate their ideas and offer direction as they continue to develop plans for to best meet the needs of the Opera House and the city's administrative functions in a shared space. Plans and drawings for options will ultimately be presented to the City Council for approval. Once funding is in place, the real work can begin.

The Opera House organization has secured several grants to pay for needs that are specific to the Opera House performance space, such as a smoke ventilation system above the stage, and improvements to our dressing rooms. We also will be conducting an economic feasibility study and creating a business plan for the future operation of the Opera House after renovations are completed.

We are optimistic about the future of the Opera House and its role in the economic vitality of downtown Franklin, and we hope you'll continue to support us.
